Yachties Day Out: Best Top Things to do on your Day Off in Fort Lauderdale
After working hard on busy private or charter yachts and being confined to a small space, us Yachties really look forward to a bit of indulgence and pampering on our day off. The best part about travelling for work is being able to take in the amazing cuisine, culture, city sights and fun crew bars in whichever port we land for the season. Below are some of our top recommended things to do and see for a perfect Yachties Day Out in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Get Away
First Up, book yourself a weekend off the boat after a long season (or just for some fun with your significant other). Check out some Fort Lauderdale Vacation Rentals here.
Next Up – Mani Pedi’s
Next, get your day started off right by treating yourself to a great mani and pedi. If you have lots to fit into your day-off we recommend Harbor Nails on 17th Street. Walk-ins are welcome and they can get you in and out in under an hour. Have a bit more time? Get a Lyft or Uber to Le Chic Beauty Lounge where you can order wines and champagne while reclining in the full body massage chair and enjoy your beauty treatments. Tipsy Salon Bar on Las Olas also offers an array of adult beverages for you to enjoy amidst your spa pampering. It’s a really fun way to start a weekend with the girls. If you prefer a more chilled out vibe, Tiffany’s is right next door.
Hair

Mankind for Men – This man-cave complete with Billiards, Craft Beer and Cigars offers all the perks of a Barbershop & Spa geared completely towards males.
Self Care
Clearlyderm Fort Lauderdale is a great place to get your annual skin scan and any cosmetic dermatological procedures or aesthetician needs met. They offer Dysport, Sculptra, Isolaz and Perfect 10 Facials.
Brunch
Fort Lauderdale is famous for it’s long Sunday Funday brunches. There are heaps in the area but one of our all-time favourites is Hardy Park Bistro. Away from the mad crowds of Las Olas, they offer fresh seasonal selections and the bottomless mimosas are just $18. With generous portions Chef Phil (who is an ex-Yachtie himself) really nails the local seasonal menu – every time!
If you feel like venturing a bit further North, Milk Money is worth it. Located on the trendy up and coming 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale, you can enjoy options for both meat eaters and vegans alike.

Brunch Cont’d…
Also, reader Favorite Boatyard is a popular yachtie go-to. This suitably named establishment on the river is admittedly extra, especially with their build your own Bloody Mary bar & Eggs Benedict Bar. Louie Bossi’s on Las Olas is another a popular yachtie brunch spot with an intimate courtyard off the main street. Legendary Old Breakfast House ¨OB House¨ on Himmarshee is just as amazing for local seasonal brunch menus and food cooked from scratch. You can’t make reservations here and your whole party must be present to be seated. However, its worth the wait for such a relaxing Sunday Funday brunch! Alternatively, if you are looking for something more healthful, Green Bar serves up delicious fresh Vegan fare and Kombucha on Tap.
Shopping
No day off would be complete without a bit of shopping. You can find the Apple Store, Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Free People, Michael Kors and Macy’s located within the Galleria Mall on Sunrise Blvd just west of Fort Lauderdale beachfront.

Beachfront
Otherwise, if you need to just chill out – check out the Atlantic Spa & Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach Front. Spa treatments come along with a hot tub, sauna, steam room and cozy lounge. Hang out in fluffy bathrobes and sip on champagne – Heavenly! Or swim in the pool overlooking the ocean.
Adventure

Sunset Stuff

Of course, we could not get away without mentioning Coconuts Waterfront Restaurant which is a classic Fort Lauderdale beach stop for fresh seafood. Although if you are in for a treat, you must go to Chima´s Brazilian Steakhouse where gauchos serve fire-roasted meat on swords and carve them tableside. Louie Bossi’s will transport you back to the Amalfi coast with their authentic Italian offerings and Rocco´s Taco´s is a super fun & vibey place for Mexican cuisine. Lastly, you can never go wrong with a burger at Tap42, a popular yacht crew bar and restaurant on South Andrews Ave. On Mondays, their prohibition burgers are just $5!
Delivery
Looking to stay in and order out? Sushi-Yummy.Online offers everything from daily fresh made sushi (down to the wasabi) to açaí bowls and delicious smoothies – delivered right to your boat. Their burrito sushi roll and sushi burger are just one way Ivan and his team are bringing a fresh take on an timeless roll.
Nightlife
Next Up, something you do not want to miss. Heading out in Fort Lauderdale for dinner and drinks? Do not forget to dress smartly. Every weekend there is a group of Yachties being turned away from the popular Rooftop @1WLO because of the dress code. No sandals or flip-flops and men must be wearing long trousers. Due to Rooftops popularity – ending up there is almost inevitable and you don’t want to be that guy (or girl) who waits in line for an hour only to do the walk of shame because of your attire or footwear.

New in Fort Lauderdale
Fresh vibey Sparrow Rooftop is located at newly opened The Dal Mar Hotel near Las Olas. Although it’s only open on the weekends, the pool bar at The Dal Mar also has enviable views and ice cold prosecco.
Chill Out
Finally, check out some more relaxed spots like Rhythm & Vine. Memorable, fresh, with a backyard party vibe. Serving up fresh specialty craft cocktails with DJ’s and happy hours. This is one spot you can come for the afternoon and stay all night. If you love live music, their sister bar The Wilder has happenings almost every weekend. Or if you are more of a Craft Brewery Explorer with a penchant for food trucks and doggos – check out pet friendly LauderAle for some in house brews and a chance to pet a pooch. Their open air warehouse vibe and daily specials, and trivia nights.
Pizza & Beer
Equally relaxing and one of the best beer drinking and pizza eating experiences in Fort Lauderdale – The Riverside Market on SW 12th Ave. is tucked in between the quaint neighbourhoods of Sailboat Bend and Riverside Park. Seating is available inside or out on picnic tables where you can enjoy self-served beers, ciders, and wines out of the can or bottle.
